Holomatix Rendition v1.0.437 x86/x64  Holomatix Rendition is a raytracing renderer, designed to make life easier for 3D artists. It is compatible with mental ray scenes and shaders, for 3D scenes developed in Maya, 3ds Max and XSI. Rendition dynamically refines the rendered image, providing a lot of useful, immediate feedback, and converging to a final, production quality rendered image.
At Rendition's core is a very fast raytracer, which can typically produce an identical, production quality image 7 times faster than mental ray.
However, this is only half the story. Rather than producing an image block by block, Rendition is constantly refining it's output image, concentrating on areas that have the most detail first - this enables an artist to get a very good idea of how their scene will look in the end, within a few seconds of starting the render.
Interactive Raytracing
Users of Autodesk Maya can take advantage of Rendition's Interactive Raytracing capabilities. Through tight integration with Maya, Rendition is able to update the rendered image to reflect every adjustment the artist makes in realtime - allowing them to see immediately what effect their adjustment has had.

Fast Distributed Rendering
Using Rendition on a Render Farm
As well as being a valuable workflow tool for artists, Holomatix Rendition is also used to produce final production image sequences. This sort of bulk rendering task is often performed on a dedicated renderfarm. There are two ways in which Rendition users can distribute their rendering tasks on a renderfarm.
Mental Ray Compatibility
Rendition renders scenes using any combination of Maya, 3ds Max, XSI and mental ray shaders. Scenes will be rendered near-identically to how they render in mental ray. Key supported features include:
Improved Artist Productivity
A large part of a 3D artist's time can be spent waiting for the results of their latest render. Rendition eliminates that delay by providing instant feedback on whatever changes an artist makes to their scene.
Rapid Animation Previews
During production, 2D compositing artists can often be left waiting for a time-consuming 3D render to complete. Rendition can perform a fast, lower quality render pass, giving the 2D artist something to work with quickly.
Fully Scriptable Raytracing
Rendition's javascript interface allows a vastly more flexible rendering approach than the traditional linear sequence of frames taken from a 3D package.
Multiple Output Channels
In addition the standard outputs available via mental ray, Rendition is capable of producing extra information channels, which can be useful when performing 2D compositing on a completed render. Rendition currently supports 10 different output channels, each of which may be activated from within Rendition, without modifying the original scene.
